For the hard drive to go into the caddy you need an internal IDE hard drive 3.5" 7200 RPM or faster. This is the cheapest, most common hard drive available. You should be able to find one for around $50 by buying online or getting an OEM one at Microcenter or any other Build-Your-Own Computer store. Anything bigger that 50 GB will be more than sufficient for the class.
